Brissett was originally drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft by the New England Patriots. He appeared in three games during his one and only year with the team, filling in for an injured Jimmy Garoppolo during the infamous "Deflate Gate" year. Brissett was traded the following season to the Indianapolis Colts and has since developed into one of the better backups in the NFL. This move signals that the Patriots are likely going to target a QB at the top of the draft, with Brissett expected to serve as a mentor to the new quarterback.
